Diastasis Recti Physical Therapy in Alpharetta, GA
Diastasis recti is a separation of the abdominal muscles, most often after pregnancy. We help you improve your separation and rebuild a strong, functional core with a step-by-step plan, in hour-long one-on-one sessions.
Signs you might have it
A bulge or ridge down the middle of your belly when you sit up
A belly that still looks pregnant months after delivery
Low back pain or a weak-feeling core
Constipation
Urine leakage
Pelvic heaviness
Prolapse
How we treat it
We assess the gap and how your core and pelvic floor work together, then build a home program that advances every week, with hands-on myofascial and scar work where it helps. Many patients also want our graded Return to Running program once the core is ready.
Common questions
How long does it take?
Sessions are scheduled weekly, but the frequency can change a bit depending on what your therapist tells you after your initial evaluation.
Will I need surgery?
It depends. Most patients improve without it; we recommend conservative approaches to healing before resorting to surgery. This is something we can guide and support you through, even if you decide to have surgery, and we provide post-op care.
Do I need a referral?
No. Georgia allows direct access to physical therapy. After 3 weeks or 8 sessions, whichever comes first, you'll need a referral. We help with this process.
